National Apprentice Week: My Apprenticeship

With it being National Apprentice week this week, as well as my final full week as an apprentice here at Obsidian Offices, I feel like it is fitting for me to be able to reflect on my time as an apprentice and give advice to apprentices to come.

With it being National Apprentice week this week, as well as my final full week as an apprentice here at Obsidian Offices, I feel like it is fitting for me to be able to reflect on my time as an apprentice and give advice to apprentices to come.

I have always been interested in business and social media and this interest was the reason that I decided to look for apprenticeships in Digital Marketing. After completing my AS levels, I applied to become a Digital Marketing Apprentice with Arch Apprentices. Since becoming an apprentice, I have learnt so many things that I can take away from this experience.

Learning on the job not only helps you to learn the skills of your chosen sector/trade but it also helps you to grow as a person and adjust to the working world. You develop an understanding about your chosen industry/ business that you could only achieve from practical application of your knowledge. You can see how different situations and conditions affect your work and the way you need to think in order to resolve a situation.

As an apprentice you develop key skills that can be utilized in your future career; Time management, the ability to work to deadlines, customer service and people skills. This is on top of any industry/job specific skills that you will learn as a part of your course.

I wish nothing but success and happiness to everyone at Obsidian Offices as well as all their wonderful clients who have helped to make my apprenticeship an amazing experience. I would like to especially thank Jordi Morell (Managing Director at Obsidian Offices) and Vicky Harris (Business Centre Manager – Obsidian Offices) for nurturing me along the way, helping me with my work and for teaching me life lessons that I will never forget.

It is with a heavy heart that I leave Obsidian Offices, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, meeting new people, learning about other industries and being able to grow as a person and as a marketer. It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for everything that Obsidian Offices, their amazing team and their clients have done for me throughout my apprenticeship. Even though I am sad to leave I am also very excited to start the next chapter of my life as a qualified Digital Marketer.
